4142 Alloy medium carbon alloy steel known for its excellent toughness and durability.
4142 Alloy is a medium carbon alloy steel with outstanding toughness, ductility, wear resistance, and strength.
It’s also easy to machine in the annealed state. However, post treatment machining should be avoided as it can lead to brittle fractures.
It is a medium carbon alloy steel known for its excellent toughness and durability. It is slightly harder than 4130, but produces a more wear resistant surface finish. It provides excellent weldability and can be easily machined in the annealed state, but post treatment machining should be avoided.
O’Hare Precision Metals can provide a wide range of services for either company-supplied or customer-supplied components and materials. Just like how we can offer yo the best 4142 Alloy bar stocks and 4142 Alloy Round Bar Stock in O’Hare!
4142 has a machinability value of 63 percent which is a large benefit. The average cutting speed is 95 feet per minute. We do not recommend using 4142 Prehard for welding. When used for welding in the annealed state, preheating prior to welding and stress relief after welding are the most effective methods of achieving good results.
Drill collars, couplings, axles, bolts, shafts, piston rods, gears, valves and spindles, are just some of the many applications of 4142 Alloy.
