303 Stainless has excellent machinability characteristics.
Because of the inclusion of Sulfur in the steel composition, 303 Stainless has excellent machinability characteristics. Since Sulfur improves machining, it also negatively corrosion resistance and toughness to a minor extent. A lower corrosion resistance rating than type 304 is achieved using type 303 steel. Toughness is excellent, as it is with the other austenitic grades.
O’Hare Precision Metals can provide a wide range of company-supplied or customer-supplied components and materials. Just like how we can offer you the best 303 Stainless bar stocks and 303 Stainless round bar stocks in O’Hare!
Although 303 Stainless is not generally recommended to weld, it is still possible with some difficulty. After welding, the part should be annealed to re-dissolve any precipitated carbides. Meanwhile, its high machining rates can be achieved in the annealed condition when the hardness of the material is in the range of 200-240 Brinell.
It is undoubtedly a big help in many industries because of its incredible characteristics. Aircraft fittings, bolts, bushings, gears, nuts, and shafts are just a few of the many applications of 303 Stainless.
