It is known to have high-strength, high-hardness steel, plus excellent corrosion resistance. 17-4PH Stainless has corrosion resistance comparable to 304 stainless steel in most conditions. It’s employed in applications that demand a mix of moderate corrosion resistance and unusually high strength.

Machinability and other Processes

Machining qualities of 17-4PH Stainless might vary depending on the metal’s hardness. High-speed tools can be used; however, carbide-tipped tools are preferred. It is recommended that you use a standard lubricant. If very tight tolerances are required, dimensional changes caused by heat treatment should be considered.
