Duplex stainless steel bars offer high mechanical strength and exceptional resistance to corrosion.
Duplex stainless steels contain two-phase microstructures of ferrite and austenite grains.
These steels double the strength to that of regular ferritic or austenitic stainless steel. Since duplex stainless steel has lower alloying content, they can have the lower cost compared to high alloy surcharges.
Bars and various steel forms and shapes made from duplex stainless steel grades are allowed for lighter constructions, less welding, and more compact system their mechanical strength. Duplex stainless steel bars and other stainless steel products are supplied by multiple stainless steel mills for various reasons:
- Lower price
- Higher strength
- Better price stability
- Great corrosion resistance
- Good toughness
- Stress corrosion cracking resistance
- Good weldability in thick sections
O’Hare Precision Metals boasts its metallurgical expertise in achieving breakthroughs in the production of duplex stainless steel products in varying shapes, sizes, and finishes. We also add more specialized, excellent performance steel products to the program. Our duplex steels have such superior resistance to corrosion in a lot of applications like marine environments which are much prone to chlorine, seawater, and organic acids. The stainless steel grades we offer are excellent in its consistency in machining operations in which they allow increased cutting speeds, but reduced set-up times and tool wear.
